Did Tom Hanks Stumble On Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa's Show
Tom Hanks was “live” with Regis and Kelly, and inadvertantly upset the hostess by mistakenly calling Kelly Ripa, Kathie Lee. Remember, Kathie Lee Gifford was the former host — over 9 years ago.
This prompted co-star Regis Philbin to say “Everybody used to love Tom Hanks”. Hanks was on the show to discuss his new up and coming World War II series “The Pacific” starting on March 14th, the star also made reference to seeing himself on the cover of Time magazine.

Tom Hanks on Regis and Kelly made more people talk and talk about it. We all know that it is unusual for the great guy Tom Hanks to slip up live TV and punch a good punch line.

During his R&K interview he discussed his upcoming HBO war series “The Pacific” which is also from Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman. The new HBO show covers the Pacific Theater of World War II in a ten part miniseries starting March 14th. Hanks also discussed seeing himself on the cover of Time magazine for the first time ever as well.
So what exactly did Hanks do wrong on his TV interview? The mistake by Hanks wasn't anything to do with the current White House, president Obama or any other politics. Instead he mistakingly called Kelly Ripa “Kathie Lee” in reference to Kathie Lee Gifford the former co-host of the show. Kelly Ripa corrected Hanks that she's been a host for nine years now. Regis Philbin said “Everybody used to love Tom Hanks”. Hanks of course apologized to Kelly for the mistake.
